Mar Vista #1 Residence
-
Designed to blur the boundaries between indoors and out, this Los Angeles residence extends its contemporary architecture into a layered, naturalistic landscape. Sculptural trees and flowing ornamental grasses soften the home’s clean geometry, while linear paving bands creates a strong visual connection between the entry and garden. In the backyard, a pool and firepit anchor a series of outdoor spaces designed for gathering, relaxation, and everyday living. A restrained material palette provides continuity with the architecture, while expressive planting introduces texture, movement, and a sense of informality. The result is a cohesive indoor-outdoor environment that balances architectural clarity with the richness and spontaneity of nature.
